​A Nottinghamshire based consultancy require an Associate Engineer /Planner to join a small team specialising in transport and highway solutions, for projects around the country. The Company takes great pride in delivering successful outcomes for its clients, by being adaptable and meticulous in overcoming technical obstacles to achieving planning consent.

Job Purpose:

To manage a medium sized team that successfully identifies technical solutions to complex issues and then communicates these effectively to interested parties (internal and external). The role will also involve input into business development decisions.

Candidate Specification:

  • 7 – 10 + years of Engineer / Planning experience.

  • Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.

  • Managing existing client relationships whilst also being responsible for delivering new business to the company.

  • Preparation of complex junction layouts as hand drawn scaled drawings and using AutoCAD.

  • Proficiency in the use of modelling software to assess capacity performance of existing and proposed junction layouts, using the results to identify necessary improvements.

  • Ability to provide expert witness services at planning appeals and inquiries, preparing supporting evidence and attending meetings.

  • Prepare successful fee proposals to secure new instructions on major new projects.

  • Responsibility for preparing detailed reports identifying suitable solutions to issues.

  • An ability to communicate complex technical matters clearly both verbally and written.

  • Delivering all work in line with adopted design standards and policies, alongside the company’s own standard procedures.

  • Being responsible for delivering all project work within budgetary and operational constraints.

  • Responsibility for mentoring and managing junior staff members.

  • Demonstrate a proven ability to undertake business development and secure instructions from new Clients.

  • HNC / Degree level education.

  • Full driving licence. Having a car available for work would be advantageous.
